The first 2 hours or so were like a play put on at a Ren Faire, only with a really high budget. It got better from there. By the end of the movie, I no longer was rooting for the Ring Wraths to just get the damn ring so we could go home. Part of that animosity comes from the fact that I had a bad headache for a long part of the movie. At least three people I know of got headaches from the way the movie was filmed. Take some advil before you go.
This isn't a horrible movie. There are good things in it. However, it isn't any sort of all time classic unless you're a huge fan of the genre. You'll either see this ten times and go on and on about how great it was or leave wondering what all of the fuss was about.

This version is a solid 10 because many people like myself who hasn´t read the books, will understand everything in this version. Even the relationships between the characters will deepen and their personalities be seen more than in the previous badly-cut version. Another thing that makes my day is that the battle scenes are more extensive and less confusing(maybe because the aren´t CUT like they were before.
So, the final score is a given 10. Great actors, superb music, wonderful atmosphere and a deep and beautiful story to be told.

Even if you don't like films, or have no intention of reading the book - you must go and see this film - as memories of it for the first time will be passed down from one generation to the next for years to come.
